The Sustainability Team at Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology (YESG) organized an event titled “From Scrap to Art,” which aimed to repurpose discarded materials and transform them into valuable artistic and engineering works. The event involved collecting diverse materials such as plastic, cardboard, and metal, and reshaping them into artworks, decorative pieces, and simple furniture, reflecting the concepts of sustainability and recycling.
The event sought to integrate engineering with artistic creativity, highlighting students' ability to innovate outside traditional frameworks, while also promoting environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable practices. It provided an interactive experience for visitors, allowing them to understand the concept of sustainability in a practical and innovative way.
During the event, the team presented the college with a commemorative gift: a recycled artwork bearing the Al-Hijjawi College of Engineering Technology logo, as an expression of their appreciation and pride in the college.
The team extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Faculty of Arts for its contribution to the success of this event. Dr. Muath Abu Qamar, the team supervisor, emphasized the importance of student initiatives that reflect a spirit of innovation and contribute to creating a positive impact on the environment and society. For his part, Professor Dr. Awad Al-Zaben, Dean of the College, stressed the importance of adopting a culture of sustainability as an essential part of the College’s role in preparing a generation that is aware and capable of facing environmental challenges.
