
The student chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) in the Civil Engineering Department at Al-Hijjawi College of Engineering Technology has won the "Outstanding Student Chapter" award for 2025. This award, presented annually by the institute to the most distinguished chapters worldwide, marks the sixth time the chapter has received this honor since its establishment in 2018.
Dean of the College, Professor Awad Al-Zaben, affirmed that the chapter's winning this award reflects its commitment and professionalism in implementing the scientific and practical activities it organizes. These activities undergo rigorous evaluation by a specialized committee within the institute, based on the submitted annual report, which documents academic events, competitions, community activities, and scientific contributions.
He added that the chapter's repeated success in winning this award demonstrates its sustained excellence and the quality of its training programs and student activities. These programs contribute to honing students' scientific and leadership skills and enhancing their readiness for the job market, aligning with the college's vision of preparing highly competent and professionally responsible engineers. The branch supervisor, Dr. Fares Mutalqa, explained that winning this award was the result of a package of quality activities implemented by the branch, which included organizing and participating in local and international student competitions, specialized workshops in concrete technology, and voluntary and community initiatives that enhanced the role of students in serving the community, stressing the importance of this achievement in enhancing the university’s academic standing at the international level.
