Hijjawi Faculty Participates in IEEE MENA SYP 2025 Conference
The Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology at Yarmouk University participated in the IEEE Middle East and North Africa Students and Young Professionals (MENA SYP) Conference 2025, hosted by the Republic of Tunisia with the support of the Hijjawi Scientific Foundation.
Yarmouk University was represented by Dania Hindawi, Chair of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) at the university, and Hassan Abu Sarris, Chair of IEEE AESS–YUSB and IEEE Student Ambassador from the Department of Computer Engineering.
The conference featured advanced technical workshops, leadership sessions, and cultural and social activities. It also included a poster session, during which Hindawi and Abu Sarris presented innovative projects and scientific achievements, reflecting the distinction of the faculty’s students in modern engineering fields.
Their contributions received special recognition from IEEE President Dr. Kathleen Kramer, who praised the quality of the work and the efforts of the IEEE PES and IEEE AESS student communities at Yarmouk University.
At the closing ceremony, Hassan Abu Sarris was awarded the “Best Ambassador Award” for the Middle East and North Africa region, in recognition of his efforts in representing Jordan and fostering regional student collaboration.
Dean of the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Dr. Mohammad Alzubaidi, expressed pride in the students’ achievements, noting that they honorably represented their faculty, university, and country at this international forum. He emphasized that this success reflects the continuous support provided by Yarmouk University and the Hijjawi Scientific Foundation, and embodies the university’s vision of empowering young people to excel in engineering, science, and technology.
He added that sustaining such accomplishments requires ongoing efforts to provide students with opportunities and resources that enable them to compete and thrive in regional and international arenas.
This marks the first participation of the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology in the IEEE MENA SYP Conference, underscoring Yarmouk University’s leadership in fostering student engagement in major scientific platforms and reaffirming its standing as a hub of engineering and innovation.
