Hijjawi Faculty Launches “Noble Woman” Initiative


On behalf of the University President, the Vice President for Development and Global Rankings at Yarmouk University, Dr. Mwaffaq Otoom, sponsored the launch ceremony of the "Noble Woman" initiative, led by a group of female students from the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology.

Dr. Otoom expressed his pride in the university's students and their outstanding ability to launch impactful initiatives that serve their colleges, the university, and the wider community. He reaffirmed the administration’s continued support for both curricular and extracurricular student activities.

Dean Dr. Mohammad Alzubaidi praised the concept and goals of the “Noble Woman” initiative, emphasizing the importance of supporting women due to their honorable status in Islam and their strength, resilience, and historical role as models of perseverance and determination. He added that the initiative team embodies the spirit of collaboration and innovation, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to empowering women across various fields. The initiative aims to involve more female students in academic and extracurricular activities, helping them overcome social and psychological challenges, develop key skills, and prepare for the job market, thereby contributing to building a strong and resilient society.

Dr. Yusra Obeidat, Head of the Electronics Engineering Department and supervisor of the initiative, highlighted the unique impact of successful women wherever they are, noting their precision, effort, and excellence. She expressed pride in the female students of the Hijjawi Faculty who founded the initiative.

The event featured a video showcasing the role of Jordanian women across all sectors and the support they receive from the Hashemite leadership, with His Majesty the King’s belief in their active societal role. The founding students—Noor Al-Dweiri, Salsabeel Al-Amayreh, and Rania Al-Batayneh—delivered speeches explaining the initiative’s vision, goals, features, and future plans, along with the types of activities they aim to implement.

Guest speakers included Engineer Mazen Abu Qamar, Director of Iksab Center for Sustainable Development, and Dr. Kholoud Al-Zoubi, both of whom discussed the importance of volunteer work, supporting student and community initiatives, and empowering women to build effective societies.

The event also featured inspiring success stories from Chef Nihaya Al-Saadi, Raghad Sabri, and Engineer Suwar Oweidah.

The ceremony was attended by faculty and administrative staff, along with a large group of students.
