The Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology at Yarmouk University led the activities of the fourth meeting of the project titled “Remote and Virtual Laboratories for Engineering Education and Training in South Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa (RL4Eng),” funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program. The meeting was hosted at Zanzibar University in Tanzania.

The project is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the role of universities in advancing engineering education and training across the South Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa by providing interactive learning environments based on modern technology.

Workshops during the event included participation from 15 partner institutions from Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tanzania, Spain, and Germany. The sessions aimed to foster knowledge exchange in engineering education, enhance faculty capacity, and empower students through hands-on learning using remote and virtual laboratories.

The project team from Yarmouk University—Dr. Mohammad A. Alzubaidi, Dr. Dania Bani Hani, and Dr. Amin Jarrah from the Hijjawi Faculty—presented the university’s leading role in implementing the project and highlighted its academic and practical benefits for students.

It is worth noting that two years ago, Yarmouk University secured €800,000 in funding from the Erasmus+ program as the coordinating institution of the project. The project is managed through the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology and carried out in collaboration with 15 partners from Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tanzania, Spain, and Germany.
