
Hijjawi Faculty Organizes “Robotics and Electronics Day”
Under the portnage of Prof. Mwaffaq Otoom, Vice President of Yarmouk University for Development and Global Rankings, the Robotics and Automation Society at the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology organized the “Robotics and Electronics Day” event.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Otoom praised the tremendous efforts made in organizing the event, expressing pride in the achievements of Hijjawi students. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in advancing innovation and technology and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting both academic and extracurricular activities that empower students to overcome challenges and achieve excellence.
Dr. Yusra Obeidat, Chair of the Department of Electronics Engineering, highlighted the value of these events in enhancing students’ skills and connecting them with current scientific developments. She encouraged students to seize opportunities that expand their horizons and keep pace with advancements in their fields.
Dr. Shadi Alboon, the club’s faculty advisor, noted that the event shed light on the rapidly evolving field of robotics and automation, which is making a broad impact across industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture, education, and logistics. He stressed the importance of preparing a generation that engages with these changes as innovators and developers—not just consumers.
Student chapter president Lubna Arshidat welcomed attendees and guests, emphasizing the importance of the event in showcasing one of today’s most significant technological fields and inspiring students to take initiative and innovate in robotics and automation.
Engineer Islam Al-Hajj Hasan presented an innovative project aimed at supporting people with disabilities, featuring a device under development by his team to enable visually impaired individuals to “see” using advanced robotics and electronics applications.
Dr. Abeer Hatamleh, from the Irbid branch of the “We Are All Jordan Youth Commission,” gave a talk highlighting how such events play a vital role in building youth technical skills and strengthening their engagement in national development.
The event included a video showcasing the society’s top achievements and highlights from supporting companies and organizations. At the conclusion of the day, certificates of appreciation were distributed to participants and sponsors, followed by the opening of an exhibition featuring sponsoring companies and student projects. The event saw wide attendance from faculty members, administrative staff, and students from across the university.
