The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Student Branch at the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Yarmouk University, has won six prestigious awards at the 2025 IEEE Annual Meeting, held at the national level and Region 8, which includes Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. These achievements reflect the academic and professional excellence of the branch and its members.

The awards include:

• Best Student Branch in Jordan

• Student Branch with the Highest Membership in Jordan

• Best IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, supervised by Dr. Yusra Obeidat from the Department of Electronics Engineering

• Second Place in the IEEEDuino 2024 Competition (via the SKB Team)

• Region 8 Outstanding Women in Engineering Volunteer Award, presented to Dr. Yusra Obeidat

• Most Impactful Technical Activity Award, under the supervision of Dr. Ateka Khader from the Department of Biomedical Systems and Informatics Engineering

During a visit to the Hijjawi Faculty, Yarmouk University President Prof. Islam Massad met with the students and expressed his pride in their achievements. He reaffirmed the university’s ongoing support for student excellence and innovation.

Joined by Vice President Prof. Mwaffaq Otoom and Dean of the Faculty Prof. Mohammad Alzubaidi, Massad emphasized that such accomplishments are the result of persistent effort, teamwork, and a spirit of initiative and leadership among students, faculty, and staff. He noted that the IEEE branch’s success puts Yarmouk University at the forefront of academic institutions supporting innovation, volunteerism, and scientific excellence.

Prof. Massad also praised everyone involved in making this achievement possible and stressed the university's commitment to supporting all initiatives that positively reflect on its students locally and internationally. He extended particular appreciation to the faculty advisors for their mentorship and guidance.

The IEEE Student Branch at Yarmouk University is supervised by Dr. Zaid Al-Batainah from the Department of Electronics Engineering and receives continuous support from the Hisham Hijjawi Scientific Foundation.
