About the Department
Established in 1993, the Department of Computer Engineering at the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Yarmouk University, has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of computer engineering education in Jordan. Over the years, the department has consistently produced highly skilled graduates who contribute to innovation and development in both the local and international tech industries.
The department currently offers two Bachelor degree programs: Computer Engineering, and Computer Engineering – Internet of Things (IoT), each designed to address the growing demand for expertise in computing technologies and smart systems. In addition, the department offers a Master in Computer Engineering degree program, aimed at preparing students for advanced roles in research, development, and academia.
Our faculty includes a distinguished group of professionals with expertise across a wide spectrum of computer engineering fields, such as embedded systems, IoT, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computer networks, and software systems. Their commitment to teaching and research enhances the academic experience and supports innovation.
To support hands-on learning and applied research, the department is equipped with modern laboratories and computing facilities. Degree Programs
The Department of Computer Engineering offers two Bachelor’s degree programs: Computer Engineering and Computer Engineering – Internet of Things (IoT). These programs provide students with a solid foundation in hardware and software systems, embedded systems, and emerging technologies such as IoT and artificial intelligence. Laboratories and Engineers
The Department of Computer Engineering offers a wide range of modern laboratories designed to support hands-on learning and research in key areas of the discipline. These include the Digital Logic Design Lab, Operating Systems and Database Lab, Microprocessor and Microcontroller Systems Design Lab, Data Structures and Software Engineering Lab, and the Computer Organization and Embedded Systems Lab.
To keep pace with technological advancements, the department also hosts specialized labs in Networking and Programming, Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence. These labs provide students with practical experience in programming, embedded systems, smart devices, and intelligent technologies—skills that are increasingly in demand across industries.
All laboratories are supervised by experienced engineers and technicians who ensure that students work in a well-maintained and supportive environment. Through practical training, project-based learning, and exposure to real-world applications, students graduate with the technical competence and problem-solving skills needed to excel in the field of computer engineering.
