About the Program
The Master in Engineering Management degree program at the Hijjawi Faculty for Engineering Technology, Yarmouk University, was established in 2020 in response to the growing demand for professionals who can effectively bridge the gap between engineering and management. The program is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical expertise in both industrial engineering principles and managerial practices, enabling them to lead complex engineering projects and drive organizational performance.
The curriculum covers a comprehensive range of topics including operations management, systems analysis, operations research, engineering economics, project scheduling, quality and reliability engineering, decision support systems, ergonomics, and simulation. This multidisciplinary approach provides graduates with the flexibility to thrive across various sectors where people, technology, systems, business, and information intersect.
To accommodate different career goals, the program offers two study tracks:
-
Thesis Track: Emphasizes scientific research and is suitable for students who aim to pursue a Ph.D. or engage in applied research in engineering management.
-
Non-Thesis Track: Offers additional coursework and is ideal for professionals seeking to advance their technical and managerial skills for leadership roles in industry.
The program supports Yarmouk University’s vision to contribute to Jordan’s scientific and economic development by advancing research and applied projects that serve the national economy. It plays a key role in enhancing the local business environment by promoting best management practices that benefit both the industrial and service sectors.
Whether pursuing a leadership role in industry or engaging in applied research, students gain the tools to make informed, strategic decisions and drive innovation. Through strong ties with public and private sector institutions, the program ensures students are well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to Jordan’s development goals and the broader field of engineering management.
by integrating principles of engineering, management, and decision science to address complex organizational and technical challenges.
in operations management, project planning, quality assurance, systems optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
in engineering management fields such as reliability, maintenance, human factors, and simulation to support industrial and service sector advancement.
to prepare graduates for managerial roles in engineering firms, public institutions, and multinational organizations.
by applying best practices in resource planning, efficiency, and process improvement across technical operations.
through real-world projects, industry collaboration, and a curriculum focused on practical applications and professional relevance.
Study Plan
The Master in Engineering Management program consists of 33 credit hours and is typically completed over two academic years. It is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in both engineering principles and management practices, empowering them to lead complex technical projects and strategic initiatives in industrial and service sectors.
The curriculum features a core set of courses that cover key topics such as Modeling and Optimization, Decision Support Systems, Maintenance Management Systems, Simulation Modeling and Analysis, Logistics and Supply Chain Analysis, Research and Statistical Analysis, and Project Management for Managers. These courses ensure a well-rounded understanding of how to manage and optimize engineering operations.
To support individual interests and career paths, students may choose from a range of elective courses that explore specialized areas like Design of Quality systems, Engineering and Technology Management, Engineering Risk Analysis, Lean and Agile Systems, Simultaneous Engineering, Human Factors and Product Design, Complex Engineered Systems, and Engineering Innovation and Design. The curriculum is continuously updated to reflect the evolving demands of the engineering and business environments.
Students may follow one of two study tracks:
-
Thesis Track: Involves conducting supervised research and completing a written thesis. This track is well-suited for those pursuing research-based roles or doctoral studies.
-
Non-Thesis Track: Requires additional coursework and the successful completion of a comprehensive exam that evaluates mastery of key subject areas across the program.
This flexible and practical structure ensures that graduates are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and strategic mindset to thrive in managerial and leadership roles across technical industries.
