In this project, we will develop a control system for Drone using based on head helmet. The head helmet will include a sensor to sense the operator movements. The operator will track a ground object via his head movements which will be decoded into Drone command. Moreover the helmet will be equipped with virtual reality that is connected stereovision system mounted in the Drone.
The operator will virtually view the seen as if he is in the Drone. This system is assumed to emulate real pilot environment. The Drone will also be equipped with safety controls that prevent unaccepted commands such as move to hit obstacle.
The safety controller will take over the control if the Drone becomes unsafe. In this proposal, we will model Drone safety through collecting Drone status and environment measurements. The model will define two states for the Drone; safe and unsafe. In the case of safe, the Drone will be controlled by the operator. In case on unsafe state, the Drone will be controlled autonomously until its state become safe. The autonomous controller will track the target object using object tracking algorithm implemented in high computation ground station.
